I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT# 99906), working under the supervision of Dr. Jan Ewing.
I work with individuals, couples, and families on a wide variety of issues. Some particular areas of interest of mine are
- College/School/Work-related stress, anxiety, and depression
- Pregnancy-related challenges
- Parenting
- Children/Youth
- LGBTQ+
- Immigration/Acculturation
- Couple/Relational Issues
My clinical work is grounded in Narrative and Solution-Focused theories, as well as other postmodern ideas and practices that inform a respectful, collaborative and non-pathologizing approach in working with individuals, couples, and families. I am a multiculturally trained therapist, LGBTQ affirming, and I enjoy working with diverse communities.
I create an environment that is confidential, non-judgemental, and safe. While I take every problem seriously, it is never confused with your whole person. I attend to the unique way you experience your problem so that our therapeutic conversations are both respectful and effective.
In my work with children, I create an environment that is pathology and blame free for both children and adults. I privilege playful approaches in order to strengthen family bonds and access children’s untapped skills and problem-solving abilities. In order to facilitate the conversation, I adopt a variety of materials, which I choose in collaboration with the children and their caregivers in accordance with their preferences and needs.
